APR proudly contributes to the circular economy system.A circular economy is an economic system aimed at reducing waste and making the most of resources. Manufacturing products out of recycled materials keeps waste out of landfill and waterways, and minimises the use of virgin materials saving water and energy and reducing pollution. This regenerative approach is in contrast to the traditional linear economy, which is a 'take, make, dispose' model of production.
At APR we are contributing to the circular economy by turning waste plastic and waste timber into valuable products. Using materials sourced nationally from kerbside recycling and industrial waste to create products, we are able to divert approximately one million kilograms of plastic per year from landfill. For example, a milk bottle received by council kerbside collection will go to a materials recovery facility (MRF). It is then granulated at a processing site, received by APR to be turned into products like furniture, bollards and garden edging for councils and their residents to use.
Interesting Fact: It takes up to 198 milk bottles to make one WPC bollard.
